Blessington Educate Together National School Website

Today we had a science day. At eleven o clock a man called Declan Holmes came to our school and did a science show with us. It was very good, he showed us all about science and more.

Firstly he told us all about pressure and gravity. Did you know that the gravity on your head is the same as forty 1kilo bags of sugar. Then he showed us different experiments such as the egg experiment. Declan set a piece of tissue on fire and put it in a plastic bottle than he put a hard boiled egg an the top of the bottle. Suddenly the egg fell into the bottle. This happened because the fire burned up all the air inside so the gravity pushed the egg into the bottle to get air. It was very interesting.

Another cool thing was the plasma ball this was like a little ball of electricity. When you put your hand on it, it looked like electricity was coming out of your hand.

My favourite part was the rocket workshop. We built are own rockets after we learned about them. After we made them Declan filled them with water and pumped air into them than they flew into the air. It was a very good day

Today a nice man came called Declan and did a science show with us.
He showed many different things like pressure and friction and more.
He also showed us different experiments like this one were he took out a tube with liquid and when he put his hand on it the heat from his hand boiled the liquid.

He also showed us about sound he took out lots of musical instraments many we’ve never even seen before

Science Day!
Today at 11pm a guy came to teach us about science. We did some exciting experiments.He showed us that we have four kg of air on top of our head. And if you put a ping pong ball on top of a hair dryer it will stay up and only sometimes you can put two balls on.And at the end of the day we went out side and built our own rockets.
I had great fun!

IT WAS VERY COOL AND INTERESTING.
HE HAD LOADS OF COOL AND FUN STUFF .
IT WAS COOL THE WAY HE MADE AN BOILED EGG BREAK INTO A CUP.
HE SHOWED US HOW TO MAKE ROCKETS .
HE EXPLAINED HOW ROCKETS WORK AND HOW MUCH IT WILL COSTS IN THE FUTURE AND THEN WE MADE SOME ROCKETS OF OUR OWN THEY WERE REALLY FUN SOME WENT UP AND CRASHED DOWN.
